The cost of the iPad  sold on eBay is $537.7

The mark up percentage is given by:

Mark up = [(selling price - cost price)/cost price] * 100%

Given that selling price = $699, mark up = 30%= 0.3. Let x represent the cost price, hence:

Mark up = [(selling price - cost price)/cost price] * 100%

0.3 = (699-x)/x

0.3x = 699 - x

1.3x = 699

x = $537.7

Therefore the cost of the iPad  sold on eBay is $537.7
