x = 8-(-2.25) = 8+2.25 = 10.25

y = 6-4.2-(-4.9)=6-4.2+4.9=6+0.7=6.7

x-y = 10.25.-6.7= \(\frac{1025}{100} - \frac{670}{100} = \frac{1025-670}{100} = \frac{355}{100} =3.55\)

\(x=8-(-2.25)\)
\(x=8+2.5\)
 \(x=10.5\)

\(y=6-4.2-(-4.9)\)
\(y=1.8+4.9\)
\(y=6.7\)

\(x-y=10.5-6.7=3.8\)
The  answer is: 3.8
