I stared at the mountain of homework on my desk. It would take me a million years to complete all these assignments!

Why does the narrator use the phrase a million years in this text?

ATo explain why she had waited so long to begin working on her homework

BTo give an approximate amount of time over which her homework increased

CTo playfully exaggerate the time needed to complete her homework

DTo provide a literal prediction of the time required to do the assignments

Verified Answer :

The answer is letter C. To playfully exaggerate the time needed to complete her homework

Such speech is termed a hyperbole, one of many figures of speech variants. These kinds of speech should not be taken literally, and are used to add rhetorical force.
