The Dawes act in 1887 granted landholding for the native American by dividing Tribal Lands into 65 Hectare parcels and give it to the head of each family.
It was sponsored by U.S senator H.L Dawes to absorb tribe members into a larger national security.
The act also estbalished a trustfund for the government to collect and distribute natural resources from the native's land
