The correct answer is C, as the Committee on Ways and Means is considered to be the most powerful in all of Congress.

The Committee on Ways and Means is a committee of the United States House of Representatives. Its very broad competence not only covers budgetary, financial and taxation policy, but also social security systems and some family policy issues. It has a wide impact on national policies, due to its extensive jurisdiction.

The Committee on Ways and Means has existed since 1789, making it the longest standing standing committee of the House of Representatives.

According to the United States Constitution, the House of Representatives is responsible for all bills in tax policy matters. The House Rules of Procedure, in turn, stipulate that all such bills must go through the Ways and Means Committee. This gives this committee immense power and importance, especially compared to its counterpart in the Senate, the Committee on Finance.
