Around 1000 BCE, the Kush people broke free of Egyptian rule and began to settle in the Kingdom of Kush. The Kingdom of Kush is situated around the White Nile river and modern-day Sudan. The Kingdom of Kush was formed when the Egyptians pulled out of the area. The Egyptian customs were merged with the indigenous customs resulting in the customs and traditions of the people of Kush. The Kush took on the Egyptian religion. The Kingdom of Kush actually overthrew the Egyptians and ruled over them for about 100 years

The answer is C. Meroe, because they broke free and fled to their capital south, which was Meroe.
