If the original prize was x then what happened was that

114%x=165

or
\(\frac{114}{100}\)x=165

so we have to mupliply both sides by 100:

114x=16500

and divide by 114:

x=\(\frac{16500}{114}\)=\(\frac{8250}{57}\)=144\(\frac{42}{57}\)
