From 1854 to 1947, the British ruled in India. After the Indian Rebellion of 1857, the governance of India passed from the East India Company directly to the British crown, on the hands of Queen Victoria. She was proclaimed Empress of India in 1876. India was split into two different and sovereign territories in 1947. One of them was India, with Hinduists people.
