Let the number be x,
(1/2)x=1+(1/3)x
Solving for x,
(1/2)x-(1/3)x=1+(1/3)x-(1/3)x
(1/2)x-(1/3)x=1
(13/6)x-(12/6)x=1
(3/6)x-(2/6)x=1
(1/6)x=1
6(1/6)x=61
Therefore, x=6
