Understanding Standard Communications Protocols

The correct answer to the question is The Internet. The Internet is a vast network that connects millions of private, public, academic, business, and government networks globally. It uses a set of standard communications protocols, primarily TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol), which facilitates the connection and communication between different devices and allows data to be transferred across networked systems.

In contrast, the other options are not communications protocols:

  • Television transmits video content but is not a communication protocol.

  • Video is a form of multimedia content and does not define a network protocol.

  • The World Wide Web is an application that operates on the Internet, allowing users to access and share information.

In summary, the Internet serves as the foundational technology that connects all computer networks using established protocols, making it crucial for global communication.
