Why was the Berlin wall built?
The Berlin wall was built to surround the city. It surrounded a lot of west Berlin, after the war.
The Berlin wall was built in order to shield the West side from the East side, which was the Russian sector. Life for people living on the West side was much better than life in the East after the end of the Second World War
