To Calculate the amount of time it will take to cover a specific area with ocean.
Amount of Time =
Area of the Location x 15 years
Area lost since 1996
1. Multiply the area of the location by 15 years. (1996-2011 is 15 years)
2. Divide that number by the area lost since 1996 in the specific coastal region
(Mid-atlantic or Southeast)
NOTE: This is a stacked bar graph. The size of the bar represents the area, not the height of
the bar. For example, between 1996 and 2006, roughly 5 square miles of land was lost in the
Mid-Atlantic region.
