Final answer:
The Department of Child Support Services is tasked with managing child support payments and addressing non-payment issues. Factors such as disability or unemployment can affect a parent's ability to meet obligations.
Explanation:
Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) is responsible for establishing, collecting, and distributing child support payments as mandated by court orders. When payments are not made, the non-custodial parent may face repercussions such as wage garnishment and asset seizure by state recovery services agencies.
Child support non-payment can lead to the label of a “deadbeat parent,” but it's important to recognize that factors such as disability, financial challenges, or unemployment can hinder a parent's ability to meet obligations. The Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) works towards ensuring the wellbeing of children, families, and communities.
