OPINION WRITING is one of the most common types of writing
you will use in
college or in your career. It is somewhat similar to
persuasive
writing except that its focus is on expressing your
opinion in a credible way and not on trying to influence other
people's opinions.
Steps to good opinion writing:
- Do your research so you have a firm foundation for your opinion
- Choose a position
- Write in first person
- Include supporting facts and examples
- Don't overanalyze - this short type of writing does not need in-depth analysis or
evidence
