Final answer:

Johannes Kepler's discoveries led to Kepler's laws of planetary motion, supporting the heliocentric model and emphasizing the role of mathematics in astronomy.

Explanation:

Johannes Kepler made significant contributions to astronomy by discovering Kepler's laws of planetary motion. These laws described how planets move around the Sun, including the fact that planets move in elliptical orbits with the Sun at one focus of the ellipse and that a line connecting a planet to the Sun sweeps equal areas in equal times. Kepler's laws supported the heliocentric model proposed by Copernicus, emphasizing the importance of mathematics in understanding the universe.
