Final answer:

Logos relies on logic and evidence, pathos appeals to emotions, and ethos establishes credibility with the audience.

Explanation:

Logos is the most important Aristotelian appeal when it comes to presenting logical arguments and credible evidence to persuade an audience. For example, in the given text, the focus on U.S. military greenhouse gas emissions and the Pentagon's response to climate change relies on factual information.

Pathos, on the other hand, focuses on appealing to the audience's emotions and sense of identity. In different types of media such as a political speech, a commercial, or an article about climate change, pathos can be used to evoke feelings like fear, hope, or patriotism to sway the audience's perspective.

Ethos revolves around establishing credibility and trustworthiness with the audience. In the context of the text, the author's four decades of studying war and peace before focusing on climate change and the Pentagon's response can be seen as building ethos.
