Final answer:

Bones in the body act as levers, with joints as fulcrums, and muscles supplying the power for movement.

Explanation:

In the body, bones serve as levers; the turning points, or fulcrums, are found at the joints; muscles supply the power; and parts of the body, or things to be lifted, serve as weights.

Examples of levers in the body:

  1. The forearm acts as a 3rd class lever where the biceps pulls between the joint (fulcrum) and the ball (load).
  2. The handle of a hammer acts as a lever with the head of the hammer acting as a fulcrum.

Bones also facilitate movement by serving as points of attachment for muscles, creating a system similar to a lever where muscles contract to move bones.
