During a solar eclipse, the following events occur:

1. The Moon passes between the Earth and the Sun, creating a shadow that falls on the Earth. This alignment causes the Sun to be obscured partially (partial solar eclipse) or completely (total solar eclipse) from the perspective of viewers on Earth.

2. The corona of the Sun, which is the outermost layer of the Sun's atmosphere, becomes visible during a total solar eclipse. The corona is usually not visible due to the Sun's bright glare, but during an eclipse, when the Moon blocks the direct sunlight, the fainter outer atmosphere of the Sun can be seen.

In contrast, the options b and c are incorrect:

- Temperatures do not necessarily cool during a solar eclipse. The temperature change during an eclipse depends on various factors such as geographical location, time of day, and local weather conditions.

- The Earth does not pass between the Moon and the Sun during a solar eclipse. Instead, it is the Moon that moves between the Earth and the Sun, causing the shadow to fall on either the Earth (solar eclipse) or the Moon (lunar eclipse).
