The Soviet leader after Stalin, who denounced Stalin's policies and initiated "destalinification," is Nikita Khrushchev. Khrushchev was responsible for building the Berlin Wall in 1961, a physical barrier that divided East and West Berlin during the Cold War. He also played a significant role in the Cuban Missile Crisis, a tense confrontation between the United States and the Soviet Union in 1962 over the placement of Soviet nuclear missiles in Cuba.

Overall, Nikita Khrushchev is known for his efforts to distance the Soviet Union from Stalin's harsh rule, as well as for his involvement in key events like the Berlin Wall construction and the Cuban Missile Crisis.
