The elements that had the greatest influence on the way different Native American culture groups developed were the geography and climate of the area where they settled.

After many years of being nomads, following herds to hunt them and feed their families, Native American Indians finally settled when they learned how to apply agriculture techniques and stay in one place they denominated their "territory." Historians have found different tribes settlements according to the region of North America. Among others, they were the Indians in the Northeast, the Plains, the Northwest, the South East, the Great Basin, and the Plateau. Geography and climate affected the different settlements of the tribes that had to learn to adapt to these different conditions in order to survive.
