Comic irony would most often be used to point out something absurd.

It makes the events more laughable. Although it can be  used to point out something strange, but it would not be as laughable. Comic irony is used when the speaker uses words that are the opposite of what they mean.

Answer: A) Absurd.

Explanation: An irony is a figure of speech that consists in a contradiction or incongruity between what is expected and what actually occurs.  There are three main kinds of irony: dramatic irony (when the audience knows something that the characters of the story don't know), situational irony (is when a situation is contradictory) or verbal irony (when the irony is expressed by talking). Irony (or comic irony) is most often used to point out something absurd (or to criticize), so the correct answer is option A.
