10 1/8 + ( 3 5/8 + 2 7/8)
Lets start with the parenthesis
10 1/8 + ( 3 5/8 + 2 7/8)
                     5 ( 12/8) 
                       6 ( 4/8) 
Now we add  10 1/8 + 6 4/8
                                 16 5/8
