in baseball when you tried to catch a ball you would probably go flying backwards until other things stopped you like friction etc.

in physics, inertia is defined as "the property of matter by which it retains its state of rest or its velocity along a straight line so long as it is not acted upon an external force" so basically inertia is a tendency not to move or change so it would be pretty much impossible to play sports
