Answer: An attack on Heorot hall in Denmark

Explanation: The epic of "Beowulf" opens with an attack on Heorot hall in Denmark. Beowulf starts with the contrast between the place where the monster Grendel lives and Heorot hall, that is the home of the Danish King Hrothgar and his men. Grendel and the King represent evil and good. Grendel attacks Heorot hall, in Denmark at night.
