There are 2 students in your class; one who is a hard-working straight A+ student and the other who is a slacker in class with grades of D/F. After an exam, the A+ student scores 99% and is pleading with you to get extra credit to get the full 100% in class. At the same time the slacker student who has a grade of an F is pleading to get extra credit to boost up his grade. You can only select ONE student to provide this opportunity to. This is just my two cents:

I would give the failing student the opportunity for extra credit. I would want them to improve and have the chance to succeed in life. The other student already has a stellar average (A+ is amazing!), and could get into many universities/colleges.
