to divide a fraction you simply switch the sign to multiplication or as the correct terminology is "reciprocal" .... 1/6 ÷ 3/9 original problem ..... you switch 1/6 × 9/3 which equals 9/18........to make it a mixed number ,whole number, or improper fraction divide to denominator(bottom number) by the numerator( top number) 18÷9 equals 3 so the fraction 9/18 = 3
