The correct answer should be New England and Middle

These colonies were made to protect people who were persecuted because of religious beliefs and they wanted to be free in these new colonies. This included things like Catholics hiding from Puritans, or Puritans hiding from Catholics, or places where all religions were welcome.

Answer:

Option: New England and Middle

Explanation:

Apart from colonies which established for economic reasons, New England and Middle colonies founded for religious freedom. Puritans and Separatists were the first to escape prosecutions in England for following different ideas and practices that were different from the Church of England. They left England and founded colonies like   Massachusetts and Plymouth to practice their beliefs. Unlike the New England colonies, Middle colonies founded by Quakers, Mennonites, Lutherans, Dutch Calvinists, and Presbyterians who were looking for a place to practice religion freely.
