When multiplying fractions you can simply multiply across. Changing the mixed fraction to an improper fraction will make this easier. To change \(1 \frac{2}{3}\) from a mixed to a proper, simply multiply the denominator by the whole number (3*1) and add the numerator (3+2). The improper fraction is \(\frac{5}{3}\) .
Now simply multiply across so \(\frac{5}{3} * \frac{7}{8} = \frac{5*7}{3*8} = \frac{35}{24}\)
