\(\sqrt{121} = +11 and -11\)
If you take the square root of something, you are looking for what number, when squared, will give you the number within the square root.
Ex: \(\sqrt{9} = 3\)
\(3^{2} = 9\)

so with \(\sqrt{121}\) both \(-11^{2}\) and \(+11^{2}\) with give you 121
