show the calculation you would use to convert the following:. a.) 0.25m to centimeters. b.) 9.8g to kilograms. c.) 35ms to seconds. d.) 4.2dL to liters
In all of these cases you can use proportions:
1.
1m - 100 cm,
0.25m - x cm.
Then, \(\dfrac{1}{0.25}=\dfrac{100}{x},\\ \\x=100\cdot 0.25=25\) cm.
2.
1 kg - 1000 g,
x kg - 9.8g.
Then, \(\dfrac{1}{x}=\dfrac{1000}{9.8},\\ \\x=\dfrac{9.8}{1000}=0.0098\) kg.
3.
1 sec -- 1000 ms,
x sec - 35 ms.
Then, \(\dfrac{1}{x}=\dfrac{1000}{35},\\ \\x=\dfrac{35}{1000}=0.035\) sec.
4.
0.1 L - 1 dL,
x L - 4.2 dL.
Then, \(\dfrac{0.1}{x}=\dfrac{1}{4.2},\\ \\x=0.1\cdot 4.2=0.42\) L.
