The role of diction in writing is to make language more specific. The correct answer is option A. Diction in writing is the writing style of a writer depending on the choice of words he or she uses. When a writer chooses inappropriate words, this would easily distract and lose the interest of readers thus, reflecting to the writer as a bad writer. Word choices should be specific and understandable enough that all readers can understand the message you are trying to convey.

Answer:

a. to make language more specific

Explanation:

The role of diction in writing is to make language more specific, to specify tone and atmosphere by choosing the author of words.

Selections of descriptive terms can significantly alter readers' attitudes toward the subject being written.  This use of vocabulary can also convey a great deal of general feelings from the writer to the completed work.

Diction can be formal or informal in style, and some types of prose can even combine the two styles to varying degrees. A separate species of diction is also common in poetry, and is generally intended to create patterns of words that are distinct from written prose or spoken language
