Chemosynthesis is the process by which living organisms break down food for energy.
ATP has three phosphate groups where one phosphate group's bond is unstable and very easily broken.
ADP is the result when the third phosphate group in the ATP is broken leaving only two phosphate group for use in making energy for active transport.
