3x -y = 4  ------> eqn1 
2x + y = 11 ------> eqn2
add the two equations 
3x -y +2x +y = 11 + 4 
5x = 15 
x = 3 
then sub. in eqn 2 
2(3) + y =11
y= 11 -6 
y = 5 
the answer is ( 3, 5)
