The Mayflower Compact established an early form of self-government in the Plymouth Colony.
The Plymouth Colony was the first pilgrim settlement that was established on the soil of America after the pilgrims arrived from England. They arrived aboard The Mayflower, a merchant ship that transported 102 pilgrims from Plymouth in England.
- When the pilgrims couldn't practice their religion as they desired, they began looking for a safe place to restart their lives.
- This was how The Mayflower became the ship to transport 'believers' from England to America.
- When the first batch of pilgrims arrived, they 'thanked' God that they've found a new place to restart their lives and have religious freedom.
- But the need to maintain order resulted in a common agreement among themselves, which became "The Mayflower Compact".
The Mayflower Compact was an agreement that the pilgrims made when they first arrived to ensure there was order. Thus, the correct answer is option A.
