In order to protect off of aquifers near landfills material is placed under the soil to prevent pollution which property must the protective material process
Answer: Permeability.
This property allows liquids to pass through the material but also filters out
pieces of garbage and other pollutants. In aquifers, permeable rocks or
synthesized permeable material are used so that trash, or clay will not leak
into the groundwater.
The answer is impermeability. The protective materials prevent the leakage and seepage of contaminated water (such as those of battery acid and household cleaners), by gravity, to the water table in the aquifer. If this is not done, contamination of groundwater may result and cause a public health disaster when the contaminated water is used for consumption when it reaches water wells.
