Lorna Dee Cervantes celebrates her culture in
the poem “Freeway 280” by combining English and Spanish. The way she does this is by using Spanish
words for things/people almost interchangeably and with ease. What this does is highlight bilingualism, which
is a linguistic tendency of her culture.
