Verified Answer :

I would coose b. Carter was an unusually charismatic
speaker.  In their first debate, Ford won
by exposing Carter’s inexperience. Later debates showed Carter as the better
debater giving viewers an idea that he had something to give to the country.  This enabled him to win the nomination and
become the next U.S. president.

The answer is D if anyone was still wondering. Going to start answering more questions. Started looking around for some quick answers and found nothing relative or correct. Have taken an exam in the past with the same question.

During this time the economy was getting ready for one of the biggest declines in history.
