URGENT HELP!
A positive charge is placed in an electric field that points south. What direction is the force on the positive particle?

Aearth.
Bsouth.
Cwest.
Dnorth.

Verified Answer :

If the electric field points South, then a positive particle is going to be repelled, because field lines point away from the positive end of a magnet. so the positive charge is going to go south

The direction of the electric field is defined as the direction of the force on a positive charge immersed in the field. The force on the particle points c. c. west.

The direction of the electric field is always directed in the direction that a positive test charge would be pushed or pulled if placed in the space surrounding the source charge. Since electric field is a vector quantity, it can be represented by a vector arrow.

What determines the direction of each electric field?

The Electric Field

For static electric fields, direction and magnitude do not change over time. The direction is determined by the charge of the source, which can be positive or negative.

What is the magnitude and the direction of the electric field?

The electric field direction points straight away from a positive point charge, and straight at a negative point charge. The magnitude of the electric field falls off as \(1 / r 2 1/r^2 1/r21,\) slash, r, squared going away from the point charge.
