Verified Answer :

Scientists believe that amphibians evolved from bony fish. C.

Answer: The correct answer is -

C. bony fish.

The bony fish evolved into two distinct groups, which are Sarcopterygii that contains the lobe-finned fish and Actinopterygii that contains ray-finned fish

The lobe-finned fish further evolved and gave rise to the tetrapods (which are the vertebrates with four limbs), represented by amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals.

These lobe-finned fish evolved and developed multi-jointed leg, such as fins with digits, which helped them to crawl along the side of sea.

Thus, they resulted in the evolution of amphibians.

Therefore, option C) Bony fish is the right answer.
