The correct answer is - b. small swarms can eat the same amount of vegetation in one day as an elephant.

The desert locusts are a true nemeses to the agriculture. They create swarms, be it large or small, they have millions of locusts in them, and for their size, they can eat a lot. A small swarm, can indeed eat as much as an elephant in one day, so when they do get to the plants they consider as food they are destroying them in a very rapid manner, and if it is a big swarm in question, in only few hours they can massacre hundreds of acres.
