Why aren't many cases of domestic violence reported by the victims?

maybe because the victim doesn't want to admit that whatever happened to them actually happened or maybe they were threatened by the person not to tell anyone. there is really a lot of different reasons why victims wouldn't want to tell for different scenarios.
