The Neutrality Proclamation (1793)

The Conflict: France was upset due to America trading with Britain. French agents asked American diplomats for money before they would make a deal.

The Decision: Mr. President issued the Neutrality Proclamation that officially stated the United States would stay out of the war and remain friendly with both sides.

Why it's Important: It kept the U.S. from getting dragged into a dangerous war we couldn't afford and showed the U.S. was going to focus on its own growth instead of getting involved in other countries' fights.
