I rubbed my hand through the black-spotted white fur of the ocelot, then

pulled the measuring tape from my pocket. The total length of the skin was fifty

inches, including the tail, which measured fifteen inches. The elongated spots

almost gave the appearance of black lines in the fur. Ignacio watched me as I

caressed it. He walked over, took the skin down, and handed it to me.
